Our purpose is the remembrance of Allah by following The Holy Qur’an and the life examples of Prophet Muhammad (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). We are a local expression of a global community of students of Shaykh Ahmad Tijani and the Faydah of El-Hajji Shaykh Ibrahim Niasse (R.T.A.).

Founded by the late El-Hajji Imam Saleem Abdul-Muqit Joseph (R.A.) in the mid-1990's, The COIK was renamed, formalized and registered as a State of Michigan non-profit corporation in April 2018. El-Hajji Imam Saleem received direct guidance, education, and ijaza (permission) from Shaykh Hassan Cisse (R.A.) to establish a Detroit-based jamaat (group) of believers.

Our mission is to aid the spiritual upliftment of humanity through educational, cultural, social, and charitable activities. We support seekers, travelers, and lifelong learners yearning to heal and reconnect with their higher selves.
